Continuing Education
Efficient, effective and reliable continuing education is a necessity in medicine but solutions of disseminating information on current research and up to date medical technology have so far proved elusive in many parts of the world. Some may argue that there is not one area of concentration where this information may be found and searching for such data may take hours at a time.
Reliable virtual continuing medical education (CME) in remote areas of the world recently took a step closer to reality with the successful launch of the Global Health Network’s e-learning project. Also known as the ICARE project, GHN operates on a platform in which medical practitioners are brought together worldwide for an on-going global education initiative. Here, information is shared among doctors of all nations, assisting developing countries in accessing the most current medical instruction.
The benefits of telemedicine/e-learning solutions have been proven by deploying them in pioneering trials in North America through the National Educational Institute. As a result of NEI Conferences, the ICARE project has acted as the medium for the rollout of services in which to meet the challenges faced by medical practitioners in remote areas of the world.
As of September 2006, associates of GHN have been asked by local government officials of the Republic of China to provide a proposal for services relating to its ICARE project. This new acquisition is a tremendous coup as GHN has been offered the possibility to be a provider of Continuing Education for Medical Practitioners in China.
GHN has surrounded itself with a strong Faculty of medical practitioners who provide those responsible for communities with limited medical education resources, high-level, technologically advanced courses to aid in further professional development.
